“A Great Design” by Black Marble // A Different Arrangement (Out 9.9.12 on Hardly Art)
Black Marble are coming off of the release of their excellent EP, “Weight Against the Door”, and now, only 10 months later, they’re going to be releasing a full length by the name of “A Different Arrangement”. The first taste from that release is the killer new jam, “A Great Design”, which takes the focused, dark energy of that first EP and brings some new treats to the table in the form of a surprisingly bouncy synth line and an absolutely infectious melody. Instead of the sole post punk atmosphere of those earlier tracks, here you can’t help but feel the dreamier pop sounds of early New Order and (mid-era) The Cure. Whatever it is, it’s working because I’m now eagerly awaiting the release of “A Different Arrangement”. Highest recommendation for fans of Little Girls, Minks, and Exitmusic.
